Vice Versa BOM, May Blocks

I have quite a few little projects that I’m working on right now – several BOMs, a quilt-along, and more. It’s definitely fun for me to work on multiple projects and different fabrics at the same time while watching these projects come to life, month after month.

I stitched together the May blocks this week for the Vice Versa BOM, hosted by Anne Marie at Gen X Quilters.

Here are my May blocks, side by side:

We now have 10 blocks in total completed:

I’m doing the smaller, lap sized version with 9″ finished blocks. We’re over 1/2 way finished with this BOM so it’s exciting to see the blocks come together.

Enjoy!

Vice Versa BOM, April Blocks + A New Quilt Along!

Over the last several evenings, I’ve cut out the fabric and stitched my April blocks for the Vice Versa BOM, hosted and designed by AnneMarie over at Gen X Quilters.

My fabric selections are inspired by Radiant Orchid, Pantone’s color of the year. You can read about the fabrics in my project here.

This month, we made star-within-a-star blocks. Here are my completed blocks:

I did take a photo of my January through April blocks together on a white design wall. I wanted to take a picture of the blocks with a higher contrast background so you can really see the richness of color. But, it is so rainy and windy here in the Pacific NW that I couldn’t get an outdoor shot.

There is definitely still time to participate in the Vice Versa BOM so come join in on the fun!

I also wanted to mention a new quilt along that I’m so excited to start next week. It is the Aviatrix Medallion quilt along, designed and hosted by fellow Portland Modern Quilt Guild member Elizabeth Hartman on her blog, Oh Fransson! This week is fabric selection. Next Monday, we start in on the fabric cutting. You can do all solids, go scrappy, or do whatever fabric combination you want in this fun quilt along. Hope to see you join us!

Happy quilting,

Vice Versa BOM: March Blocks

I did both some hiking and some sewing this weekend to kick off spring break here in Oregon!

I finished up my 2 March blocks for the Vice Versa BOM, hosted by AnneMarie over at GenXQuilters. We made the bear paw block this month, which is one of my all-time favorite blocks.

Here’s at look at the regular block and the inverse block:

You can read about my fabric selections in my first Vice Versa post here.

We’ve made 3 months worth of blocks, and I love taking pictures of them together. The colors are so springy and make me happy!

I’m working on pictures from our scenic hike over the weekend so stay tuned!

Vice Versa BOM: February Blocks

Yep, I’m a few days late with my February blocks!! Since the March blocks will be sent out this Friday, I figured that I still had time to squeeze by and consider these blocks done in time.

The Vice Versa BOM is designed and hosted by Anne Marie over at Gen X Quilters so come join us!

Here are my February blocks:

I’m doing the 9-inch finished size so these blocks are currently 9.5-inches. My blocks feature Pantone’s color of the year: radiant orchid.

The colors in these blocks are making me long for springtime flowers!

Vice Versa BOM: January Blocks

Hi everyone,

AnneMarie over at Gen X Quilters has designed a very creative BOM using traditional blocks juxtaposed with inverse blocks! Come check out her blog and join the fun!

For my colors, I really wanted to incorporate Pantone’s color of the year – radiant orchid.

I took this pic using my camera phone so the quality is not great, but gives you an idea of the colors I’m using. I’ve listed the fabrics below the photo.

Vice Versa BOM - Fabrics

Vice Versa BOM – Fabrics

A: Kona solid in Snow
B: Kona solid in Lupine
C: Mesh Texture Taupe (03437-70) from Cachet by Benartex
D: Suede Violet by P&B Textiles
E: Studio Stash in Pistachio (AJS-13573-52) by Jennifer Sampou for Robert Kaufman
F: Small Flower Pink Taupe (03435-70) from Cachet by Benartex

The small flower print is a larger scale print that I hope will work with this project. I’m fussy-cutting pieces from my yardage (which I got on sale for 1/2 price at a LQS!!).

The January blocks came together pretty quickly and AnneMarie’s instructions are a perfect balance between text descriptions and photo diagrams.

I’ve decided to make the 9″ blocks to make a lap sized quilt.

Here are my two January blocks: the traditional block and its inverse.

Thanks again to AnneMarie for designing and hosting this BOM. I hope to see you join us!
